AI risk appetite translates enterprise priorities into boundaries for AI decisions. It states which impacts, autonomy levels, uses, data conditions, and control gaps the organization will accept, avoid, transfer, or escalate.
A useful appetite statement changes approval thresholds and operating behavior. It helps teams distinguish a routine experiment from a material deployment and gives governance bodies a consistent basis for deciding when additional evidence, senior approval, or a stop decision is required.
