Missio definition
AI governance is the operating structure through which an organization directs AI decisions, assigns accountability, manages risk, and verifies performance. It includes more than policy: portfolio ownership, approval thresholds, risk classification, testing, monitoring, incident response, evidence retention, and oversight reporting all belong to governance.
Effective governance is proportional to context and materiality. It should make lower-risk work move efficiently while concentrating scrutiny on systems whose failure could materially affect people, operations, rights, finances, or reputation.
